
A snapshot of the year’s biggest moments and trending queries has been revealed by Google of the UK’s most-searched topics of 2024.
Top of the list were Oasis, whose reunion for a UK tour in August catapulted them to the forefront. Oasis tickets became the second most searched “how to” query of the year, reflecting immense excitement among fans.
Public attention was also drawn to events like the US presidential election and the rise of 17-year-old darts sensation Luke Littler, who reached the PDC World Championship final in January.
The most popular news searches
In July, England’s men’s football team dominated headlines as their journey to the Euro 2024 final in Germany became the UK’s most searched topic. Despite their valiant efforts, they lost 2-1 to Spain, leaving fans heartbroken but proud.
Second most-searched news story was the sudden death of former One Direction star Liam Payne. Other notable news stories included the disappearance and recovery of British teenager Jay Slater on Tenerife and the tragic death of TV doctor Michael Mosley on Symi.
